First Night

First Night

We understand that the first night in a new place can be unsettling.  Many residents feel bewildered, distressed and in need of additional support at this time.  The staff who work in our first night / induction units are specially trained to help meet the specific needs of new arrivals; to reassure and assist our ladies and our adult families as needed.  Staff in the induction units are always available to explain how the centre operates and make sure that our residents have all of the information they need.

Residents are given a tour when they arrive on the unit to help them develop a better sense of where they are and settle more effectively into the centre; they are shown where the dining room is, where the office and request forms are located and told how to use the centre telephones and how to send faxes.

First Night

All our rooms have en suite wet room and toilet.  Most of the bedrooms in Bunting (our single ladies induction unit) are singles while our adult family unit, the Crane unit, is made up of double rooms which a resident will share with a family member.

Our residents are discreetly checked on twice during their first night with us to ensure that they are feeling safe and have been able to settle.  Our specially trained staff are on-hand 24 hours a day to help address any issues that may cause our residents concern.

Our top priority at Yarl’s Wood is the safety and security of our residents and we work hard to ensure that they are treated with the greatest of respect at all times.
