Access to Religious Support

Religious denominations

It is important that that all of our residents feel valued and that we cater for all religious denominations.  We employ a full time Head of Religious Affairs and eight regular ministers who provide faith services for followers who are:

  • Christian
  • Muslim
  • Sikh
  • Hindu
  • Buddhist
  • Christian Anglican
  • Christian Chinese

Access to Religious Support

In addition we also have access to a number of other ministers, including Buddhist monks, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Rabbi, who come to the centre as the specific needs of our resident population require.

Our religious affairs team provides support to our residents and responds promptly and effectively to concerns that are raised with them.  Residents can access our religious team by completing a request slip and placing it in the box outside the Religious Affairs Office, which is in an easy to find, central location.

During each week faith services for all religions are held and Bible readings and Muslim studies take place on a regular basis.  Bibles, Qur’an and other religious publications are donated to us through local churches, mosques and the Gideon Society and are supplied free to residents.  Prayer mats are loaned to residents for the length of their stay at Yarl’s Wood.  We also ensure that residents are able to take part in all major religious celebrations such as Ramadan, Eid, Divali and Christmas.
