Yarl’s Wood IRC Environmental Policy

YARLS WOOD IRC ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Yarl’s Wood IRC is committed to leading the Immigration Detention Estate in minimising the
impact of its activities on the environment. By reducing our environmental impact through
pollution prevention, sustainable procurement, waste minimisation as well as energy and
resource efficiency.

We will ensure that the organisation operates an environmental policy which
contributes to our performance and responsibilities towards communities and the
environment in a way which exceeds both the spirit and letter of the law.

Ensuring the contract has both the resources and authority to establish, implement and
maintain an EMS to ISO 14001 standards and to take action on non-conformances and
close out corrective actions.

Ensure that material and financial resources are available to meet the requirements of
Environmental policy.
2 Ensure that all levels of staff receive adequate environment information, instruction and
training as is necessary to do their duties within the requirements of regulations.

Review environmental incident reports and take necessary action when breaches of
the law or non-compliance of the group and contract environmental policies occur.

Ensure that systems of work are being maintained and that the environmental
management system is implemented.

Ensure that the environmental policy is communicated throughout the organisation and
contract.

We will exercise a duty of care towards all persons and companies working directly for
the company, to assist them in meeting the objectives of this policy.

Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst customers and suppliers.

Where possible and practical source products that minimise the environmental impact
of the Centre
