HIS Church charity raised for the month of September a staggering ££2263.50 that will be used to support their charitable activities such as helping people in desperate need in the UK and elsewhere in the world. They raised this amount at Yarl’s Wood IRC by holding weekly clothing markets for the residents that are accommodated there. The clothing is originally donated by the charity and then the residents buy the items at the markets, all money spent is given back to HIS Church Charity. When the markets are taking place the atmosphere around Yarl’s Wood IRC really comes alive and the residents and staff thoroughly enjoy the activity. These markets have proven extremely popular with residents, often with many looking forward to the event and taking their mind of what is an anxious time in their lives. The residents wouldn’t get the opportunity to actually conduct some clothes shopping whilst in Detention so this gives them a real buzz and Yarl’s Wood IRC are very grateful to HIS Church Charity.
